Skep Space—named for the traditional, handmade hives that protect and nurture the colony—invites artists of all disciplines and levels to participate in our plein air event and subsequent exhibition celebrating the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills.
As we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday and Farmington’s Great American Main Street Award, we are seeking artists to participate in a one- day plein air event within the city limits of Farmington and Farmington Hills. We will celebrate the artists and have their work available to purchase at the Honeycomb Gallery.
DETAILS
- Theme: Plein Air Event – Come and create work celebrating our cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills.
- Media: Painting, Mixed Media *Work must be completed on site. No photo references.
- Hanging: All work must be wired to hang. No Sawtooth hangers.
- Eligibility: Open to all artists
- Sales: All work must be for sale. 25% gallery commission.
IMPORTANT DATES

- Canvas Check In: Beginning at 8am on 8/22 at tent in front of the gallery
- Plein Air Event: August 22 from 8am to 8pm
- Artwork Complete: Work checked in to tent by 8pm on 8/22
- Exhibition Dates: August 27th – September 25th 2026
- Opening reception date: August 27th from 6-8 PM
- Pick up Artwork or Sales Check: Saturday 9/26, Sunday 9/27 10am – 2pm at gallery

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Bring blank wired canvas or individual papers to the registration tent at The Honeycomb Gallery at 33018 Grand River Ave in Farmington, MI. We will stamp the back of the canvas, paper, or illustration board and send you on your way to work within the city limits of Farmington and Farmington Hills.
At your spot of inspiration, create! The entire work of art must be completed from life. No photo reference allowed. The Honeycomb Gallery does not provide materials for artwork creation.
Return your artwork to the registration tent by 8pm. All work submitted will be included in our Plein Air Show from Thursday, August 27th to Friday, September 25th. Prizes will be awarded at our artist reception on Thursday, August 27th from 6-8pm. Local artist and plein air legend John Nagridge will adjudicate the show. Invite your friends and family to our artist reception to celebrate with music and light refreshments.
